A teacher at an inner city school I am often asked why I do what I do where I do it. This is a quote from the end of my July 25th 2006 post that I think sums it up nicely:
"I can see why [My District] has such a high turnover rate while also boasting many, many teachers who spend their entire career at one school. We invest so much of ourselves in these kids that for some the price is too steep, while for others the thought of leaving their kids, that they have nurtured, comforted (and maybe even taught something) is a far greater price to pay." |
